City of Calgary Infrastructure Improvements

Project Location: Glenmore Trail/Elbow Drive/5 Street SW

Product Used: 8' x 14' Oak Matting with Lifting Eyes

Application: The City of Calgary began the upgrade of Glenmore Trail and Elbow Drive in 2004 to include a 7 lane road and the construction of an interchange at this intersection. The utilities along Glenmore Trail had to be moved and the contractor responsible for this aspect of the project incorporated 8' x 14' oak lifting mats under their directional drill rigs. The mats provided a continued stabilized platform for the equipment to ensure maximum effectiveness in all weather conditions. The lifting eyes in the mats enabled the contractor to easily move the mats using onsite equipment as the rigs were relocated.

Wellsite Abandonment For A Leaking Orphan Well

Project Location: Peace River, AB

Products Used: Enviro Liner 30 mil and Oak Matting

Application: This orphaned well had been leaking a very low concentration of salt water into the Peace River for many years. The intensive operation of the well abandonment was undertaken beginning with the critical stabilization of the lease. Continual site accessibility was essential due to the fact that all equipment on site was under a rental contract. Our interlocking 8' x 14' oak mats were installed and enabled the operation to be completed promptly with no delays in schedule and minimal site disturbance. Any potential spills from the site were collected in an Enviro Liner 30 mil to ensure no occurrences of further contamination.
