Swamp Mats Inc. and its parent company, Horizon North Logistics Inc., consider health, safety and environmental management as amongst one of our key values. Our underlying philosophy is that all incidents are preventable through sound loss control management principles. The Health, Safety and Environmental policy is the statement of our beliefs and principles. We are 100% committed to meeting the principles of this policy and it is a requirement of all personnel to comply with them. The principles of our HSE Policy are communicated to personnel through such means as:

  • Inclusion in the induction/indoctrination process;
  • Posting on relevant notice boards;
  • Safety training and awareness programs as required; and
  • Regular interaction between management and the employees.

Swamp Mats is committed to promoting an environment that is free from substance abuse and ensuring compliance with any controlling government laws and regulations and the requirements/expectations of our clients. The Swamp Mats Substance Abuse Policy is directed at protecting the health and safety of employees, co-workers, sub-contractors and the general public. The Substance Abuse Policy meets or exceeds industry expectations (Safety Sensitive, Risk Sensitive or Non Sensitive positions) through a combination of drug and alcohol testing, employee education, manager/supervisors training and access to assistance.

Swamp Mats has achieved significant improvements in safety performance over the past years as demonstrated in May 2011 by working over 170 days without a Lost Time Work Case and 1250 days since our last Recordable incident. Swamp Mats believes that this good safety performance is a leading indicator of business success. That is, if we manage safety, we can and will manage the rest of our business well.
